Review: Le Moulin

A Provençal Paradise: A Stay at Hotel Le Moulin in Lourmarin

Nestled in the picturesque village of Lourmarin, Provence, Hotel Le Moulin beckons travelers with promises of old-world charm and authentic experiences. As avid seekers of unique retreats, my companion and I found ourselves drawn to this converted old mill, eager to immerse ourselves in the soul of the south of France.

Upon arrival, we were greeted by the rustic elegance that defines Le Moulin. Terracotta tiles, sisal floors, and untreated plaster walls adorned with Provençal fabrics welcomed us into a world where time seemed to slow down. There was no nostalgia here, only intentional sobriety that directed our gaze to the beauty of the village itself.

Our accommodation, a cozy room overlooking the cobbled streets, epitomized Provençal comfort. The view of winding streets and terracotta rooftops captured the essence of Lourmarin's allure. It was a Provençal cocoon, inviting us to unwind and embrace the tranquility of our surroundings.

The hotel's offerings extended beyond mere accommodation; they curated experiences that enriched our stay. We started our mornings with leisurely coffees, listening to the sounds of the town walking up nearby. The option to take a dip in the pool refreshed our spirits, while bicycle rides along nearby trails immersed us in the natural beauty of the region.

One of the highlights of our stay was joining the throngs of people at the local market, where we found ourselves swept away by the infectious energy of the locals. It was a testament to the Lourmarin’s commitment to fostering a sense of community and connection among its locals and tourists.

Venturing beyond the hotel grounds, we indulged in activities that offered a deeper insight into Provençal life. An introduction to pétanque at Le Galinier introduced us to the beloved French pastime, while walking the trails with our dog Kai allowed us to explore the breathtaking Provençal landscape firsthand. We even had the opportunity to walk to the chateau and explore history, a serene experience that left us feeling rejuvenated and centered.

But perhaps the most memorable aspect of our stay was the simplicity of everyday pleasures. Whether savoring a local snack on the terrace or strolling through the winding streets of Lourmarin, each moment felt like a treasure to be cherished.

As we reluctantly bid farewell to Hotel Le Moulin, we couldn't help but feel grateful for the memories we had created during our stay. It was more than just a hotel; it was a gateway to the heart and soul of Provence. And as we ventured back into the world beyond its walls, we carried with us a piece of its magic, forever woven into the fabric of our travel memories.
